I love to write and you never know when you will hear something or think of something that inspires you. That's why I love my iPad. I take it everywhere and I have several stories that I am working on so it allows me to work from anywhere. The single best accessory is my case with removable keyboard from Belkin. I have kids and even though they have their own iPads, they always end up borrowing mine when theirs is dead. Today I found a great Living Social coupon for a case with keyboard for only $29 (plus $5.95 shipping)!!! That is a huge savings. These easily run near $100. This one does not have the removable keyboard but for $35...I can manage!

Homemade Gardening Remedies
It is now June 4th and I have to send a special shout out to a very helpful gardening enthusiast, John Tenison. In one of those passing conversations, I mentioned I have been having a problem with my cucumbers, squash, and watermelon. Every year they grow and every year a white powdery substance devours them! The solution? Soap and water! Now, I know there are a lot of easy homemade tricks that work well in the garden but I could not pinpoint what the white powder was so I had no idea how to stop it. It is apparently a fungus and a simple solution of soap and water sprayed onto the leaves took care of it. Another trick he offered up was to boil tobacco (I got a can of cheap snuff, longcut) like a tea. Strain the tobacco leaves out and you are left with a homemade solution for pest control. Now, remember to not use too much, you don't want to get rid of the beneficial bugs too! Please let me know if you have any easy homemade tricks for gardening. Love to hear from ya!

Review of The Night Huntress Series
Once again my dear mother has found another gem. Well, technically this series has been published for awhile so really they are just new to us. Any way, Jeaniene Frost has created an intriguing and exhaustive world where Vampires, down home cooking Ghouls, and even perverted Ghosts exist. Cat is the only half breed (half human and half vampire) known in existence. Shortly after her not so sweet sixteenth birthday she begins hunting and killing the very things that helped create her. By sheer luck or perhaps fate, she meets Bones. A gorgeous vampire that shares the same career, Vampire hunter. Of course his clients pay handsomely for the undead he collects. Bones traps Cat and falls madly in love with her when she challenges him to a fight to the death. He of course wins the battle but Cat wins the war when she falls for him. This is no happily ever after kind of story. Cat and Bones struggle to stay together while ridding the world of truly evil vampires. There are 6 books in the series and 5 novellas that take place before and between stories. I am currently on book 4 and have read 3 of the 5 novellas so far. I enjoyed the first novella as it included Bones as the main character. The next two vaguely include Bones or Cat and introduce some new characters. These characters have been interesting but certainly don't compare to Cat and Bones. Oh and I must warn you, if you think Fifty Shades of Grey is too smutty, then you may need to take a pass on this series. Mucho caliente!

New Year...New Books!
My dear mother got me started on yet another new series (new to us) and naturally, I love it! I went online to Barnes and Noble to find a few of these books and it got me to thinking. How many books did I read last year? Of course it is easier to keep track if I read them on my iPad through my Nook, Kindle, iBooks, or from the Library but what about all those hard copy books. I tried to recall but I know I am missing a few which leads me to my New Year's Goal. No, I am not into the New Year's resolution thing since I always end up with crushing disappointment on Jan 4...see why I don't get on board with that nonsense? What I can do is set a goal and see that through. I just joined Goodreads and started a reading goal. My reading goal is to read 75 books in 2013. The great thing is that I can keep track through GoodReads and then there is no guessing! You can see I added the counter in my sidebar so my readers will also know my progress. I have already finished my first book....1 down 74 to go! Happy New Year!
